Effective Date: April 15, 2026 | Last Updated: April 15, 2026
Line Operations ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website https://lineoperations.com and the Line Operations SMS dispatch platform (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our SMS messaging service. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information in connection with the Service:
Personal Information Provided Directly: When you register with our platform, are added to our system by a contractor or employer, or contact us, we may collect your name, mobile phone number, email address, geographic location or work region, and employer or contractor affiliation.
SMS and Messaging Data: When you interact with our SMS dispatch service, we collect the content of text messages you send and receive through our platform (such as job acceptance replies like "YES" or "Y"), your mobile phone number, message timestamps, and message delivery status.
Automatically Collected Information: When you visit our website, we may automatically collect your IP address, browser type and version, pages visited and time spent, referring website, and device information.
2. How We Collect Mobile Phone Numbers
Mobile phone numbers are collected through the following methods:
- Directly from linemen who provide their phone number to their employer or contractor for the purpose of receiving job dispatch notifications
- From contractors or employers who add linemen to the Line Operations dispatch system with the lineman's knowledge and consent
- Through our website contact forms when individuals reach out to us directly
We obtain consent to send SMS messages before any messages are sent. Linemen are informed by their employer or contractor that they will receive job dispatch text messages from Line Operations, and they provide their consent to receive these messages before being enrolled in the system.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To send SMS job dispatch notifications to linemen on behalf of their employers or contractors
- To process job acceptance and declination responses
- To facilitate communication between contractors and linemen regarding job assignments
- To maintain records of job assignments and responses
- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries
- To improve and optimize our Service
- To comply with legal obligations
4. SMS Messaging Specifics
Full details of our SMS messaging program — including the opt-in consent process used by contractors, sample messages, and opt-out instructions — are published on our SMS Terms & Opt-In Consent page.
Message Frequency: You will receive messages only when there are relevant job opportunities or essential service communications. Message frequency varies — typically 1–20 messages per week, and may be higher or lower during active storm restoration events.
Message and Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply. Please consult your mobile carrier's plan for details on any charges related to SMS messaging.
Opt-Out: You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You may also text QUIT, CANCEL, END, or UNSUBSCRIBE to stop receiving messages. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
Help: For help or questions about our SMS service, reply HELP to any message, or contact us at [email protected].
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.
We do not share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in/consent data with any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With Your Employer or Contractor: We share job acceptance status, availability, and related dispatch information with the contractor or employer who enrolled you in the system, as this is necessary to provide the Service.
- Service Providers: We work with third-party service providers (such as SMS gateway and telecommunications providers) who assist us in delivering the Service. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to perform services on our behalf and to maintain its confidentiality.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting who can view personal data, regular security assessments, and secure storage of all messaging records. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. SMS messaging records are retained for a reasonable period to maintain job assignment history and for compliance purposes. When your data is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
Identity documents you upload during onboarding are encrypted at rest. The image of a Social Security card is collected solely to verify that your legal name matches your card, and is deleted from our systems — including our encrypted backups — once your payroll enrollment is confirmed. The Social Security number itself is retained in encrypted form because payroll and tax reporting require it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, the right to opt out of SMS messaging at any time by texting STOP, and the right to request information about what data we have collected about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose. You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information — though we do not sell personal information. You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To submit a CCPA request, contact us at [email protected].
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
